Personal Profile - Dr. Eng. Joseph Kibere Njoroge, MBS, CBS PhD, MBA, BSc Eng. (Hons) C. Eng., MIET, R. Consul Eng., FIEK
Dr. Eng. Joseph Kibere Njoroge is a seasoned engineer engaged in providing and facilitating consultancy services in various aspects of Engineering Management, Planning & Operations; Infrastructure (Energy, Petroleum, Transport, Water, Irrigation) Development and Management; Business Management; Leadership Policy & Management amongst others.
For over forty years, Engineer has enjoyed an illustrious career as a leader and manager at Policy, Business and Operational Levels in Transport, Water, Sanitation, Irrigation, Energy and Petroleum in the Government Public Service. His skills, capabilities and experience are varied and extensive.
In 1980, he joined Kenya Power & Lighting Company (KPLC) as a Trainee Engineer after graduating from the University of Nairobi. He rose through the ranks to be the Managing Director of KPLC from June, 2007 to June, 2013.
In June 2013, he was appointed the Principal Secretary, Ministry of Energy and Petroleum. In November, 2015 he was appointed the Principal Secretary, State Department for Energy, Ministry of Energy & Petroleum, following reorganisation of the Energy Sector, a position he held up to 2018.
On 28th March 2018, he was later appointed the Principal Secretary, Ministry of Energy, a position he held up to September 2021. From September 2021 to December 2022, he was appointed the Principal Secretary, State Department of Transport. In March, 2022 he was assigned more duties as the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation. These duties ended on 6th December, 2022 upon transition to a new Government.
Engineer served as a Chairman and member of several Boards of Corporate, Social and Welfare Institutions and is a Certified Trainer in Corporate Governance.
As a result of demonstrated track record of Public Service and effective role in National Development, he earned the Presidential Honour Awards of Member of the Burning Spear (MBS) in 2009 and Chief of the Burning Spear (CBS) in 2015.
